The Police (Detention and Bail) Act 2011 has received Royal Assent and is now law. The Act reverses the effect of R (Greater Manchester Police) v Hookway. The Act provides that periods on bail do not count towards the total detention period.

On 30 March NAAN was a signatory to a letter to the Guardian on Care not Custody suppporting a campaign to keep mentally vulnerable people out of prison. The text of the letter can be found here: Guardian letter on Care not Custody.
