Support with developing or commissioning AA provision
We know that high quality development and commissioning is critical to ensuring an effective AA scheme.
That's why we're working to help make that a reality in every area.
If you have responsibility for researching, developing or commissioning appropriate adult provision for your local area, NAAN membership can help you in the following ways.
-
National guidance
What is it?
We publish an online knowledgebase aimed at anyone involved in the commissioning of appropriate adult provision or developing an in-house scheme, or either, or both!
It provides practical information and guidance on achieving effective services for children and/or vulnerable adults that meet the national standards.

Specialist advice
What is it?
NAAN has a wealth of experience advising commissioners as they research the market and develop their specifications. We can provide bespoke advice by email, phone or virtual meetings. Equally, if you are not sure that commissioning is the right route for your area, we can support you as you develop an in-house scheme.

If it's a simple query, just get in touch via the usual email address or phone number.
If you'd like us to provide detailed and ongoing support with your development or commissioning project, we'll discuss an appropriate additional contribution to the charity with you.
Non members
We are always happy to have an initial chat with developers and commissioners of AA schemes.
We'd encourage you to apply for associate membership of NAAN. There's a small fee (essential to our sustainability as a small charity) which we hope you'll agree represents excellent value.

Dynamic purchasing system (DPS)
What is it?
Commissioners are under pressure to do more for less. You face huge challenges when sourcing products and services to help run efficient organisations. You are tasked with delivering value for money and positive community impact. It is important, complex, challenging and resource intensive; but it often feels impossible because budgets and time are so tight.
NAAN has worked in partnership with YPO to develop the first 'DPS' for appropriate adult provision. YPO are a local authority-owned procurement organisation, that has vast experience both with the emergency services and health and social care services.
The AA framework is ready-made for you to access. It is designed to deliver value for money and be quick and simple to use.
It includes a panel of pre-screened prospective providers and a 50+ page national template specification developed by NAAN in line with the national standards, ready for you to tailor to local needs.
YPO's appropriate adult DPS lead, Andy Perrins, is available to speak to any potential commissioner.
How do I access it?
Potential commissioners and providers can find out more about the Appropriate Adults DPS on the YPO website.
Providers interested in applying to join the DPS can register an interest via Proactis.
